EVERY SHIFT HAS A STARTING POINT
For founder Eric, the starting point was his childhood in Sierra Leone. It was there he first met what he calls the "stopping block". He had a severe stutter that trapped his words before they could even leave his mouth.
He processed everything in his head, but when it came time to speak, his system would just shut down. He was bullied and called a "scummy goat" because of the sounds his stutter made. It pushed him into deep isolation. He would sit in the back of the church. He would hide in the corner during recess. He skipped school events entirely just to avoid the embarrassment of not being able to communicate.
Most people would let that silence define them. Eric decided he wouldn't.
THE TURNING POINT
Moving from Africa to Australia, Eric carried a mission: to be a great person and prove that challenges are not dead ends. He found his voice by speaking out about the very thing that used to keep him quiet.
That is how Beyond The Shift was born.
It started on YouTube with just Eric, a camera, and a decision to tell the truth. No script, no filter. He shared his "stopping block." Soon enough, others began to share theirs. Entrepreneurs, athletes, and real people started sitting down to talk about resilience, transformation, and the life-changing moments that forced them to pivot.
